May your clothes be comfy, your coffee be strong, and your Monday be short.
Don't you hate it? That moment you realize that tomorrow is Monday. The Sunday realization can change your entire mood. I often dislike Monday's just as much as the next person, but I have some tips and tricks to make your Monday a little better.
Tip #1: Go to bed earlier. Yes, the one thing that we all say we are going to do, but in reality we just lay in our bed scrolling through social media or watching youtube videos until we realize that we have to get up in a few hours. Put your phone away and focus on sleeping. A good night's sleep leads to a good morning.
Tip #2: Make your breakfast the night before. There is nothing worse than not having time to eat a good breakfast. I recommend doing an overnight breakfast in the crockpot or making muffins or something the night before. Make something that will fuel your body and give you energy throughout your busy morning. If your breakfast is already ready when you get up, you are less likely to find yourself in line at McDonald's in the morning.
Tip #3: Do NOT push snooze. Sometimes we feel like an extra 20 minutes is all we need in order to feel more awake, but the truth is that going back to sleep can put you in a worse mood when you wake up.
Tip #4: Dress to impress. When you look good, you feel good. Monday's are a great day to wear a new outfit or try out a new makeup look. If you feel confident, the people around you will pick up on your energy.
Tip #5: Stay hydrated. Work can consume a lot of time, but it should not get in the way of taking care of yourself. I recommend drinking a glass of water right when you get up and consistently throughout the day. This may lead to trips to the bathroom, but at least that gives you time to step away from your work for awhile.
Tip #6: Plan something to get you through the day. If you have something to look forward to, your day becomes a little brighter. Make plans with friends or family later in the week that will keep you excited throughout the week.
Tip #7: If your Monday's are taking too much of a toll on you, it may be time to switch careers. Life is too short to stay unhappy. If the thought of work puts you in a bad mood, I would start sending my resume elsewhere.
